Dartmouth Golf Club - Totnes, Devon

Dartmouth is an absolute joy to play, tees, greens, fairways the whole course is up to championship standards, the clubhouse has great facilities with very friendly staff, a special thank you to Tamzin (hope it's spelt right) who looked after us at dinner.

The 4th is our favourite hole and is described below. The par 3 5th is not too difficult if you stay right and the same goes for the par 4 6th. At this point we must mention the wildlife that we encountered during the opening holes, rabbits, robins, bitterns, pheasants, 8-inch crayfish!! and we didn't see any, but there is a snake path on the course.

The 7th is another par 3 where you have to hit the green or you won't get there, 200 yards over a lake, through a gap in the trees.

The 8th & 9th par 5's give you a chance to get a par but you will have to hit 2 cracking shots to get on the greens in 2. One is well guarded by bunkers the other will be a blind approach.
Then comes the walk to the 10th, the picturesque 10th, the hole with the rock face on the left and the ravine on the right, we played the course 3 times on our visit and were tempted to aim at the rock face just to see where the ball would bounce to, but we didn't.

The next 3 par 4's are not too demanding if the wind is favourable. Then comes the 14th a plus 400 yard par 4, tee shot over a lake, out of bounds on the right.

The 15th is coming back alongside the 14th but be careful off the tee, that lake is reachable with a good drive. The par 5 16th is another chance to get par or birdie and as long as you stay on the right of the 17th you should get a good score there too.

Finally reaching the 18th, elevated tee looking down 200 yards over a lake a nightmare if you are struggling with your round. They didn't change the pin position on all three days we were there, front left just in front of a bunker. If you aimed for the middle of the green then you had a good chance to 2 putt for a par, but I put my three shots I had there straight at the pin each time ending up in the bunker or pitching on the green and bouncing into the bunker.
