Sherfield Oaks Golf Club - Hampshire

I have yet to play the Wellington but some of it's holes are ones from the original course, that I have played before they added the additional 18.

You get a great chance to start with a par or birdie as the only danger on the 1st is the rough on the left, keep clear of that and you could reach the green in two.

The next few holes are quite open with bail out areas for the wayward golfer. The 5th will test your nerve as there is water left & front of the green, depending where the pin is it could be a scary tee shot.

The 10th looks easy on the card 350 yard par 4 dead straight, but it's very narrow, miss the fairway on either side and you are in trees.

At the moment you can be quite wayward on most of the holes and still recover, but as the course matures and the small trees grow this will cease to be the case. The Wellington course has a great par 5 on it & some testing right angle doglegs. Water affects quite a few holes and the fairway's were in great condition.

I did have a problem with the greens, they were fine to putt on and the ball did run well but they were very firm, which meant that a lot of your approaches had to be pitched just short of the green to roll on and stop. If you went straight for the flags the ball would hit the green and bounce straight through.

The clubhouse is great, the staff were very friendly and the showers were superb.
