The parkland layout at Donnington Grove, accompanied by the Gothic hotel, is overlooked by Donnington Castle. Offering a stern test for most golfers with a good selection of tees ensuring that it is playable for everyone. The higher ground of the front nine provides great views but leaves you exposed to the elements, while the back nine requires negotiating the tree lined fairways and water features.
Caution is required on the opening hole as the drive is blind, then it is over the road onto the more open higher ground while the back nine is more scenic than the front and includes the longest hole on the course.
The fairways and greens here are superb, we were told that they hardly ever have any temporary greens during the winter and they certainly played well on our visit.
